Another solid performance by Customs II, on their second visit to Hadleigh in three weeks, saw them adjourn with a 2½-½ lead. Good wins by Graham and John and a well-earned draw from Lloyd now means that just one point from the three adjourned games is required. This ought not to present problems as, although Jim's adjourned position looks lost (he outplayed Tony Drake for most of the game but then made an error) Heather is a good pawn ahead and Daniel's position is level. [Heather won in the second session after reducing material to a K & P ending.]
Graham took advantage of some very passive play by Peter Whitelam which simply allowed White to dominate the king-side with pieces and deliver mate in just 20 moves after a rook sacrifice.
