Welcome to the web-site for Southend Customs & Excise Chess Club. Our club is for members of the Department and other government departments, friends and relatives, and, increasingly, curtesy of their headmaster, Frank Gulley, current and old pupils of Temple Sutton Primary School (surely one of the best chess schools in the county).

Stop Press - April 23rd - Customs 1st Team beat Shell to win the Southend Chess League Perriman Cup. Congratulations to Mike McDowell, Antony O'Toole, Matthew Jellett, Nicholas Jellett, Heather Walker & Alex O'Toole. This was also a triumph for the whole club as our 3rd Team had eliminated the dangerous Southend and Basildon 1st Teams before loosing to our 1st Team in the semi-finals.
